Some part of Sirius expects Kieren to continue being stubborn and refuse to lie down, but Kieren hesitates only a moment before sliding beneath the covers and, even more surprisingly, shifting closer to Sirius, resting his head on Sirius's chest.
It settles something beneath Sirius's skin and he lets out a slow breath, lifting a hand to brush his fingers through the short hair at Kieren's nape.
"I'm not upset that you were scared," Sirius tells him, his voice quiet. "And I'm not upset you scared me. I didn't mean to make you feel as though your some weak and helpless child -- I'm only worried is the thing. I'm not-- If something were to happen to you, I'm not sure what I'd do. Quite tired of all the people I love dying or disappearing on me."
