The effect is instantaneous. He falters, forgetting everything he's doing when suddenly he feels the ripple effect of his actions buck through him, an overwhelming thing that he can hardly bear. It's beyond his wildest dreams and he has to grasp a handful of the beddings to steady himself and coax himself onwards, knowing that it will bring them both to a happier place.
